Our Super Frozen Tuna is caught by sashimi long-line vessels and 100% natural. Unlike so-called gas tuna, Super Frozen Tuna is quickly bled, processed and frozen at -60C or below on board before rigormortis sets in. This means the tuna is kept frozen like freshly caught. This is why the Super Frozen Tuna is fresher than fresh tuna. (Fresh tuna is often sold at retail stores approx. 7-14 days after it is caught.)
Super Frozen Tuna is always stored at -60C or below until it is sold to our customers. The consistent extra low temperature is very important to maintain the good quality of meat in color, taste and texture. We have a unique freezer-storage with -60C or below at our plant in Elizabeth, NJ and our branches nationwide.
